With the increase of the fever i he peculiar sensation gradually extended over the three inner fingers, the greater part of the hand and forearm, and also over the lower part of the arm. At the same time he had well-marked pain above the elbow joint on the inner side which radiated down the forearm. After two months the tingling gave place to complete insensibility, which commenced in the hand and gradually extended upwards. He then noticed a thick round cord along the lower part of the inner side of the arm, and the limb became thin and wasted. Pustular emptions or blebs appeared over the anaesthetic area which burst of themselves and, healing, resulted in cicatrices.
